The 2018 National Geographic School-Wide Bee was held on Wed. Jan. 24 with 10 participants from grades 4th-8th grades. Contestants included 4th graders Max Cook and Scott Sloan, 5th graders Sean Bullmer and Jack Capehart, 6th graders Ruth Frederick and Jonah Sparks, 7th graders Lucus Cassett and Adaley Josephson, and 8th graders Abraham Frederick and Coy Medlin. The school champion was Coy Medlin with Ruth Frederick as runner-up. There was a three-way tie for 3rd place between Sean Bullmer, Abraham Frederick, and Jonah Sparks. Mrs. Debbie Restivo, retired USD 249 educator and PSU instructor, moderated the bee with Jennifer Morris, junior high teacher, serving as judge. Coy has now advanced to the online exam to determine if he will move on to the state-wide bee to be held in Abilene, KS.
