Fifth grade students from Frontenac Elementary took a Field Trip to George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond, Missouri.
“I loved being outdoors yesterday, listening to the birdsong,
feeling
the spring breeze,” said Debbie Restivo, fifth grade teacher. “And
I'm pretty sure the kids did too!”
Students were able to participate in a nature walk, practice their hand at chores that GWC would have done like laundry and planting corn. They used a McGuffie reader, slate and slate pencil in the one room school house, and went exploring in the Discovery Center.
“It was a great day, and I'm so grateful to USD 249 to give us
the
opportunity to travel to outstanding programs like George
Washington Carver National Monument.”
