CNC Art Competition

The C.N.C. League Art Competition and Exhibition was held May 7 at Baxter Springs High School. Twenty art students attended and participated in the different events. It also offered them an opportunity to see artwork from the other schools and students involved.

There were competitions in newspaper sculpture, wire sculpture, origami, and wearable paper sculpture.

Molly McFarland won “Best of Show” for 2-dimensional work. Molly McFarland, Jena Standlee, and Zach Holliday won “Best of Division” medals in different categories.

Frontenac students won 2nd Place in Team Newspaper Sculpture, 1st Place in Team Wire Sculpture, and 1st Place Team in Art Relay Race, which earned them a sack of candy for the trip home.

Michael Holland won a drawing for a bag of art supplies containing a set of colored pencils, watercolors and other art materials.

Of the nine schools participating Frontenac won 2-dimensional “Best of Show” and three “Best of Division” awards. Students also won first, second, and third place ribbons in several different categories. We are very proud of their accomplishments !
