Teachers nominated for awards

The USD 249 Awards Committee has nominated four Frontenac faculty members for awards to be given at the Pittsburg State University Awards Ceremony on April 29.
Loretta Audley, FJHS/FHS Special Ed. Teacher, and Sally Barnaby, Elementary Counselor, have been dominated for the Clyde U Phillips Distinguished Service Award. It is awarded each year to a teacher and an administrator in Kansas whose careers have been characterized by exemplary service. To be eligible for this award, the educator must be employed in a Kansas school system and be a Pittsburg State University Alumnus.
Andrea Merrick, fourth grade teacher, and Jeremy Rakes, FJHS teacher and FHS girls’ basketball coach, have been nominated for the Outstanding Educator Award. It is awarded each year to two PSU Alumni (one elementary and one secondary) who have shown within their first seven years of service the potential to make significant contributions to education.
Letters of support from the community are welcome and may be sent to USD 249, c/o208 S. Cayuga, by Friday, March 5.
