Young Authors

by Hope Coleman, Junior Raider Reporter/Frank Layden Elementary
January 11, 2010

At Frank Layden Elementary School every year, each student from the kindergarten classes to the fifth grade writes his or her own Young Author’s book.  This has been an annual process here since 1989, when Dr. Sandra Greer at PSU encouraged the famous author Bill Martin Jr. to have Young Authors at Frontenac. Writing the personal books is spanned out over the course of the school year. The students are encouraged to write stories in book form.
