State Wrestling

The Frontenac High School wrestlers didn’t let Covid restrictions and an unconventional season
keep them from reaching their goals of advancing athletes to State competition. Under the
leadership of head coach Keith Aikin, the Raiders traveled to Chanute for Sub-State wrestling on
February 20, 2021. As a result of their efforts at Sub-State, three Raider wrestlers, Justice
Compton, Dylan Ensch, and Dawson Lapping, will be vying for a title at the State Tournament
Series in Salina this weekend.
In Sub-State competition, Justice Compton, a 170 pound junior, qualified after a 16-5 major
decision victory in the third place match. Wrestling at 182 pounds this year, senior Dylan Ensch,
won with a fall in third place match. And, 145 pound junior Dawson Lapping’s 3-2 decision win
earned him the title of Sub-State Champion and qualified him for a spot at State. Overall, the
Raiders placed sixth as a team. In addition to Compton, Ensch, and Lapping, the Sub-State team
included seniors Bennie Adarr and Storm Niegsch, and junior Peyton Wilderman.
Best of luck at State, Raiders.
