FRONTENAC — Frontenac students gathered in their gym to honor veterans on Friday. On each of the veterans’ seats was a card, each handmade by the elementary students. Athletes from Southeast Kansas fared well at regional cross country meets on Saturday. As a result, the area will be well represented at the state’s cross country championships. At the regional meets, the top 10 individuals and top three teams in each race advanced. In Class 5A, Pittsburg senior McKenzie Wilks finished fifth at the Blue Valley Southwest regional, finishing the 5K in 19 minutes, nine seconds.
